If the spectators hold their breath, you’ve succeeded. - Jeannot Painchaud, Founder and Artistic Director of Cirque Eloize iD
Well, I held my breath multiple times while watching Cirque Eloize iD last weekend.
It was a theatre and circus spectacular fuelled by acrobats, break dancers, contortionists and a fearless stunt biker who perform against a kaleidoscopic multimedia backdrop.
While watching the bicycle stunts that involved a man from the audience lying captive on stage. (The poor guy!)
This crazy stunt that was performed on a mast. The artist went up and down the pole like a gravity-bending machine. (I not only held my breath, but I had to retrieve my jaw from the floor as well.)
While marvelling at the cyr wheel act, and how effortless and graceful it looked, from the outside.
At the beautiful aerial silk act.
And all the hip hop moves, beautifully choreographed.
At the giant jump-rope segment. Even the bicycle stuntman jumped the rope a few times!
At the trampoline wall grand finale. The troupe took turns to bounce on a superbly bouncy trampoline at stunningly precise timings. Such grace and finesse in their movements. It really looked like they all defied gravity.
If you love hip hop, fun and fearless stunts, and crazy dudes and gals jumping around the stage like they had springs for feet, you’d love Cirque Eloize iD.
I know I did.
