My second pregnancy experience (at 5 months)

I am officially 23 weeks pregnant this week. This being my second pregnancy, I have to admit that I haven’t been particularly cautious in terms of the daily activities that I get up to. Not that I’ve been going jet-skiing or bungee-jumping, anyway…heh.

I haven’t been writing much about the pregnancy too…but oh well, 23 weeks is as good a time to start as any!

So far, it’s been a very smooth journey. I’ve been blessed with zero morning sickness for both my pregnancies (woohoo!). Though I’ve had to cope with heightened travel sickness when I ride with over-zealous cabbies or cars with strong smells.

Aside from occasional cravings and hunger pangs, I have nothing to complain about. (I think God must be extra extra kind to my hubby, since he need not travel out at night to buy me my favourite food.)

All-in-all, I’ve been busy with:

  • planning my next steps in my career
  • prepping Vera for the arrival of No.2 (baby Javier!)
  • sorting out household affairs to prepare for No. 2
  • maintaining friendships with close pals and also fellow mummies icon smile My second pregnancy experience (at 5 months) (This has been utterly enriching and life-giving.)
  • settling down in a new church, and cell! (Thank God for the yummy suppers and more importantly, the fellowship and growth.)

With CNY festivities just around the corner, I really should slow down, take stock, and relish my last months of ‘alone’ time with dear hubby and Vera. Before baby no.2 comes and turns our house upside-down (again…)

Leaning on God’s promises for an enjoyable pregnancy and delivery

My dear friend Ruth passed me two books recently: “Nine Months to a Miracle” and “Supernatural Childbirth.” Both books reminded me to trust fully in God’s love and mercy, and to spend time intentionally soaking in His word, and standing upon the promises within.

Here, I just noted down a few bible verses, to encourage young mums like myself, that even when we feel fearful and helpless, we are not alone and we can call upon God to meet our needs.

  1. When I am afraid, I will trust in you. (Psa 56:3)
  2. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Tim 1:7)
  3. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body (Deu 28:4)
  4. You will keep her in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because she trusts in you. (Isa 26:3)
  5. Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)
  6. Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will have joy and gladness. (Luke 1:13-14)

Be blessed and be a mum who fears God, and nothing else! icon smile Leaning on Gods promises for an enjoyable pregnancy and delivery

An encouraging word sustains the weary soul

A word in time saves nine.

Sometimes, receiving a surprise card can do wonders for the soul. Thoughtful words can help alleviate the burdens and worries of our daily lives, and lift up our spirits. As a young mother, these are like precious gems to me, and I want to remember each word said, written, or even gestured to me. Receiving also reminds me to give. Have you said a kind word to someone you love lately? Or even to the stranger on the road looking lost. An act or a word of kindness is never easily forgotten. They tend to be carried on for a long while, and hopefully passed on to many others.

Perhaps it’s also time to consider if I’ve been kind to my little toddler. (Or have I been overly demanding of a 2 y.o.?) Though her current understanding of ‘kindness’ is probably limited to:

  1. giving her her favourite foods
  2. bringing her to fun places
  3. buying her toys

Hee, but I’m sure she’ll graduate to more sophisticated forms of kindness soon. And boy, I’m definitely looking forward to that.
