2011 is going by in a jiffy.
As I look back, I can see
that the Lord has been gracious to me.
What am I thankful for this year?
…Baby J - He’s a smiley-face in human form but with personality too. Beneath all that baby-ness, he is actually a guardian of flowers. I once wrote a letter to him at his two-month milestone. And yes, big sister Vera loves him to bits.
…Dates with the hubby - Actually, more like the lack of. And that’s why this instagram is so special. (I can count with one hand the total number of dates we’ve been out on since baby J came along!) Sigh.
Anyway, this was taken while we were walking hand-in-hand at Robertson Quay…sometime in August, when the days and nights were still jumbled into one blurry breastfeeding frenzy.
…Family - Becoming a family of four was not easy; it was a big transition for all of us, in so many ways. At times when I felt like blasting myself away to the moon, Hubby the Magnificent would swoop down and envelope me in his patience and calmness. My mum was always around to help out, and my godmother also came by often to lend a hand. So I must say, every bit of the help I had, erm, helped.
…Friends! I chose this picture of Vera exchanging yummy freeze-dried strawberries with a cute boy (courtesy of Nerdy Mum) to illustrate friendship. They were giving (and taking) the same thing. It was a very pure exchange.
Anyway, I’m thankful for my friends. They’ve kept me sane all year, and endured my rantings and ramblings. (Yes, hubby, that includes you.) I think that’s the ultimate mark of friendship — being able to rant and be totally real with each other, pimples and what-nots.
What’s life without… FUN?! I think Vera has taught me a thing or two about having fun. I love seeing this pic of her and daddy — joy sees its fullest expression in a kid on a trampoline.
…Musicals. We brought Vera to her first one when she was about 2.5 years old. It was Elmo’s Green Thumb playing at the Kallang Theatre (where this instagram was taken). Since then, we’ve been to a sneak preview as well as the actual performance of Narnia the Musical. That brings our kiddie musical exposure so far to a grand total of 2. But we ain’t stopping here. I really love being able to go to musicals together with Vera. There’s always some fantasy-land to be whisked away to, a lesson to learn, and a dream to take home.
Last but not least, God’s love, joy and peace. Seriously, how does one live without them?
Okay, I’m sneaking in another one. This Blog! Oh dear blog, what would I do without you? Where would I write? And where else could I meet so many fantastic and interesting mummy friends?
What are you thankful for this year?

Yes to all. Those are the true reasons to be thankful today and all year around. What great photos! Your life is so happy, I love reading your blog. Merry Christmas June x
Thanks Stasha! There are ups and downs, but I’m choosing to be thankful and focusing on the good
What an eventful year. Which reminds me, I should get down to penning down my thankful list for the year and yes New Year Resolutions for the new year too!
Looking forward to reading your lists!
I love all of these and how you are so thankful. Your kids are going to be so thankful for your Instagrams when they grow up. (-: I love the Friendship one - so sweet!
I like that one too, almost like a first date of sorts. Haha thanks Ado!
Sweet post! Congrats on all the things you have to be happy for!
Thanks bridget!
Pictures are such a great way to remember the sweet moments of our year. Love your pictures and post.
Thank you!
Very nice! I don’t get to do Intragram, but I take plenty of pics and play with them a lot!
I know…photo filters are addictive. :p
The ‘fun’ picture of your daughter and husband… priceless. That we should all be filled with such unbridled joy and enthusiasm!
What a wonderful list of things to be thankful for!
Dates once the baby arrives are so much more awesome, aren’t they? They remind me of the way I felt when I was a teenager-like I’m doing something bad and dangerous but that everyone accepts as normal. Oh geez, did I just give too much away?
Omgosh, I feel like a rebel teenager when I go on dates too!
Love your list and pictures! When we can, I love taking our kids to musicals and plays, too. I was able to take my daughter The Nutcracker ballet last week. Absolutely magical!
